Our trip to Corpus Christi

Erik finished his Spring Quarter at Baylor at the very end of April so we decided to take a little trip before he started Summer Quarter. Can I get an Amen for one year of law school down? Anyway, Corpus Christi is only about 4 1/2 hours south of us and not a bad drive at all. We left on Saturday morning and didn't do much that day because of the weather. Sunday the weather was gorgeous so we went to the USS Lexington, which is an aircraft carrier no longer in use and they use it as a museum. We also went to the Aquarium.

At the beach near our hotel. We actually stayed on Padre Island.

A tugboat that we saw while at the Aquarium. We didn't take too many pictures there.

The captain's lounge on the ship.

There were several levels to the ship and you had to take these stairs everywhere. They were very steep as you can see. There was a disclaimer at the beginning of the museum that said there was no handicap access anywhere on the ship.

My absolute favorite picture from this trip. They had mini cockpits around the museum that you could sit in.

This is where the sailors slept. I think I would hyperventilate from claustrophobia if I had to sleep here.

Let me preface this picture. Erik has an irrational yet severe fear of driving over bridges. Corpus Christi is on the coast so obviously there are bridges everywhere. I did most of the driving in town on this trip due to this fact. However, when we went to the Lexington we didn't know there was a bridge so Erik drove. As we come around a bend in the highway we see this huge up ahead. I thought we were going to get run over because Erik literally stopped dead on the highway. He eventually did drive over this bridge because there were no exits.

When y'all came to Texas, who drove across the Mississippi River in Memphis?
